Photo Gallery: Royal Phnom Penh

I've got another mystery roll of film today! Yesterday I published a roll of film from 2018 that I had completely forgot about shooting! Here's another one I didn't know existed, from my trip to Cambodia in early 2019. I took a visa run to Phnom Penh, the capital city, and most of these photos are from the National Museum and the Royal Palace.

The Cambodian National Museum is housed inside a beautiful old building built in the early 1920s.

The National Museum is the world's largest collection of Khmer art and artifacts.

The head of a statue, possibly a representation of King Jayavarman VII of Angkor.

The National Museum is surrounded by beautiful gardens, and sits near the kingdom's premier university.

The inner courtyard at the National Museum is centered around a small fountain, and there is a tiny café where you can sit and rest with a cup of iced coffee.

A small shrine to a cow sat outside the national museum, with dozens of sticks of incense in front of it in offering. While Cambodia is a Buddhist kingdom, there are still many strong Hindu elements present in the society.

I visited the Cambodian Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda Temple. It's smaller than the Grand Palace in Bangkok, but both palace complexes and royal temples are built in similar architectural styles.

The Silver Pagoda is the royal temple of Cambodia.

Khmer-style Buddha statues have a unique round face with peaceful features. Statues like this one are common at the National Museum and throughout the kingdom.
