After I wrote my post the other day where I colorized some black and white photos I had taken, I became curious about how the AI colorization software would handle my 850nm infrared photos. I ran a few through the program, and here are some results.
| Colorized infrared sky looks great - super rich, dark blue. |
| The effect is weird and almost spooky. |
| It almost looks like a BlueIR filter. |
| While the colorized infrared images don't look quite as interesting as colorized film photos or regular infrared, it still gives the images a unique effect. |
| The program is very good at identifying sky and water. |
| Of all the colorized IR images, I think this one turned out the best. It's the most accurate, while still overemphasizing some colors and twisting others to a weird shade. I might not colorize my infrared photos all that often, but it can give it a cool look under the right circumstances. |
| This image is my favorite. I think it's so cool how the colorization gives the temple, sky, and trees an alternate universe sort of look. Everything is just a little "off", which I think makes the image more interesting. |
