Nashville hot chicken is a fiery dish that originated in Tennessee. As the name suggests, it is hot and spicy! The chicken is bathed in buttermilk, battered, and double-fried to give it an extremely crunchy exterior with a soft and juicy interior.
The Nashville hot chicken served at Fowlmouth is made in the traditional American style. When you order, you can choose how hot you want your chicken to be. One may choose buttermilk chicken (no spice at all), mild, medium hot, extra hot, and death. Extra hot and death-level hot chicken are made with Carolina Reaper peppers and are not for the faint of heart.

I had known about Fowlmouth for a while. I think I saw an article in BK magazine about it and had wanted to go for months. It's a little far from where I live, but I recently had some business in Thong Lo, and insisted that we swing by The Commons for some hot chicken.
It was incredible! I got their signature hot chicken sandwich, and my wife ordered their famous chicken and waffles with maple butter.
It was definitely worth the trip across town. I love Thai food and eat it nearly every single day, but from time to time I like to try something a little bit different. This was a great detour, and a wonderful American meal in the heart of the Big Mango.
