It's the Lunar New Year, AKA the "Chinese New Year", and this year is the Year of the Snake.
The Chinese lunar calendar goes in cycles of twelve zodiac years. The year 2013, when I first moved to Thailand, was the Year of the Water Snake. Now, it's the Year of the Wood Snake, the start of a brand-new cycle. Since I've been here for an entire cycle, it really feels as if I've become established here in Thailand.
It's been a great cycle. Here's to many more to come.
