A Visit from the Grand Duke
I received an email recently from Travis McHenry, the Grand Duke of Westarctica, an environmentally minded micronation that claims a bit of otherwise-unclaimed Antarctic territory. His Royal Highness was to be in Bangkok and invited me to meet up with him for lunch.
We had a great meeting at Somtam Nua, one of my favorite restaurants in Siam Square, and at the end of the meeting, His Royal Highness surprised me by presenting me with the great honor of becoming a Knight Grand Commander in the Order of the Snowflake, a Westarctican order honoring service to Westarctica.
I am very proud to be a part of Westarctica and to see how much it's grown over the past years. This year will be the micronation's 25th anniversary.
