I have a new goal for 2017, and I've decided on the super cheesy name Stamp Quest.

I spent last weekend in Chantaburi, in the east of Thailand. Before leaving to go back to Bangkok, Pinky and I spent a few hours at Nam Tok Plio ("Dancing Waterfall") National Park. I found something interesting at the visitor's center:

You might have heard of the "Passport to Your National Parks" program in the USA. Well, it turns out that Thailand has a similar National Park Passport program! I bought the book for 100B (about $3). Every park is listed with a photograph and its location, and at every visitor's center, you can collect a special stamp depicting the park's most iconic landmarks.

My goal for the coming year is to visit as many of Thailand's 127 national parks as I can, and collect a stamp at each one. If I don't get my stamp, it doesn't count! I've been to a few national parks in Thailand, and I wish I had this passport sooner.
I think it's a fun way to remember my adventures in Thailand, and see some of the kingdom's lesser-known destinations. This year, I want to try camping here in Thailand.
Let's see what my total will be by New Year 2018!
I'm adding "Stamp Quest" as a tag under the "Special Series" section in the right-hand column of the blog. Click there to see my most recent posts.

I am trying to do this at our US National Parks!
ReplyDeleteDid you pick up one of the National Park passports? Let's visit one or two when I'm home! I hope we can take a weekend trip somewhere after the wedding!
