Park Society and Bingsoo

We returned from Chiang Mai on the early morning train to Bangkok. After we freshened up, I took my mom and brother out for breakfast at BKK Bagels, where I had eaten my first breakfast in Bangkok years ago.

I had slept poorly the night before, and after breakfast I was starting to feel really awful, with a bad headache and general exhaustion. Mom and Kyle decided to walk around Chidlom to visit the Erawan Shrine, but I excused myself to go lay down at my apartment. We would be meeting Pinky for dinner, and I wanted to be feeling well.

Pinky took us to Park Society, a skybar at the top of the Sofitel So Hotel in Bangkok's trendy Silom neighborhood. The hotel overlooks Lumpini Park and downtown Bangkok. The views up there are absolutely incredible! It's not the tallest building in town, but definitely boasts one of the best views.

great views!
After a few drinks, we strolled through the park, still busy with joggers and people enjoying the cooler evenings, even though it was getting dark.

After dinner, Pinky and I took Mom and Kyle to Siam Square One to try a bingsoo, the new desert trend from Korea that has become quite popular in Bangkok recently! (Last time they were here, the trend was Japanese Shibuya honey toast!) Bingsoo is a Korean shaved ice with ice cream and fresh fruit. Really delicious! The serving we bought said it was for two people, but even the four of us had trouble finishing the entire delicious dessert!

It was a wonderful day.

The next morning at 4am, I found myself helping Mom and Kyle drag their luggage across the street and hail a cab to take them back to Survarnabhumi Airport.

It was so nice to have them here, and I miss them already! It was a little sad watching that green cab drive away, but I know I'll be back in Texas real soon, and this year I'm bringing Pinky with me!

There's a lot to look forward to!

I loved having my family visit, and now I'm already looking forward to the next time that they'll come see me in the Big Mango, or wherever I end up!

safe travels! Sad to see them leave :(
