Georgetown Street Art

When you're in Georgetown, you have to spend a day wandering the streets to see the city's famous street art. Here are some pictures that I took around town during my visit to Penang, Malaysia.

a goldfish splashing on the side of a building
one of the most famous pieces of street art in Penang is this couple on a bicycle
part street art, part advertisement for this famous street food shop
these cats are having a Chinese-style parade outside one of the Chinese clan houses in Penang
the kids on this bike are really famous too, and tourists like sitting on the bike for a photo
street vendors
many pieces of the art make clever use of real-world items - here, a woman places a stick of incense in a small shrine
cats seem to be a popular theme for Penang street art
the cats really do seem to show up everywhere
good thing I'm a cat person now!

a kid enjoying a big bowl of noodles
Georgetown is a really colorful city, and the street art that you find along the way gives the old town a ton of charm. For a lot of people, the street art is the main reason to visit the city. For others, it's the food. For me, it was both!
