My New Secret Coffee Place!

I discovered a cool new place right in my neighborhood the other day!

I'm living in Lat Phrao again. I stayed along this famous road for my first three years in Thailand. Lat Phrao is a busy road, and famous for its bad traffic. Not many foreigners live here. People tend to be friendlier, and prices tend to be cheaper. It's also nice living so close to Don Mueang Airport!

heading down a "soi", or side street
I've been trying to discover more of the neighborhood lately. The other day, while having lunch at a noodle shop that I like, I saw an ad on the wall for a cool new cafe opening up down one of the nearby side streets. One morning, I decided to check it out. This is all part of my new mission of getting to know the city better.

My new secret coffee shop is just a few steps down a local soi (side street), just off of the main road. It's built along a tiny khlong (canal), and sits right on the water.

I ordered a caramel macchiato, and sat alongside the water to enjoy the quiet day. Lat Phrao can be kind of a noisy road, but I was surprised and impressed at how quiet it actually was here. You couldn't hear a single car, bus, or motorbike. Instead, all I could hear were the sounds of birds singing and the splashing of the giant koi fish that live in the little canal.

I might start bringing my computer here to do some work from the cafe. It's also a co-working space, and has wifi, meeting rooms, and all sorts of resources for freelancers and remote employees.
