My girlfriend is a veterinarian, and the other day, she and I went to a fundraiser for a great Bangkok-based organization called
PAWS. It's a rescue organization for cats, and it's a pretty big deal around the city!

Even though it was a stormy night, the venue was packed! My girlfriend had a lot of people to socialize with, but even I saw somebody that I knew there! They had snacks and cocktails (named after some of the cat mascots of the organization), and a big lucky draw raffle. The main event was an improv performance by three members of the Bangkok Comedy Club. It was in the spirit of "Who's Line" and it was fantastic.

Afterwards, we went to a local Japanese izakaya (diner/pub). This area of Bangkok is super popular with Japanese expats, and the izakaya is very authentic. It's run by Japanese folks too, so you know it's good! We even had to take off our shoes before sitting down at the table-level cushions for our meal.

We ordered a few dishes, with an appetizer of crab boiling in the shell over charcoal.

Of course, the meal was served with a side of green peas to snack on!

Most interestingly was the green beer! It was made of Asahi Beer blended with matcha green tea. I liked it, but have to admit that it was a bit odd.

All in all, it was a fun night. Nowadays, I'm working from home, so I'm trying to be more social and get out more. This was a great evening, and it was for a good cause. What could be better than that?
