Crab Noodles

Morning in Chinatown dawned bright and early, and it was time for a delicious breakfast. I love travelling with my beautiful fiancee because she has an amazing talent for finding the best local food wherever we go, and this morning was no exception.

I don't know how she does it... I really don't! But somehow her instincts always lead us to the best local foods. That morning in Chinatown, she took us on foot to Odean Restaurant, a historic restaurant just across from Wat Traimit (the Temple of the Golden Buddha).

Odean, named after a famous traffic circle in Chinatown, is renowned for its famous crab noodles. Bangkok is located near the coast, and the seafood in the "City of Angels" is some of the freshest and most delicious in the world.

These egg noodles (served dry) were topped with an impressive amount of sweet, fresh crab meat and garnished with green onions and deep-fried garlic. The bowl of noodles also came served with deliciously tender shrimp dumplings.

When you order noodles in Thailand, you can order them "wet" or "dry", which means that you can order them with or without broth. Generally I prefer dry noodles.

When you order dry noodles, though, they usually serve a small bowl of delicious broth on the side. Somehow, I think that makes the dish even tastier.

My favorite thing that we ordered, however, were the deep-fried crab cake meat balls! The crab cakes were served with a sweet Chinese-style honey sauce which balanced the herbs and crab meat perfectly.

What an incredible way to start the morning!!!
