Mom Moment, Market, and More

Here are some of the fun moments of my mom and brother's visit to Thailand that didn't really fit in the other posts. I had a great time when they were here!

It just so happened to be Thai Mother's Day when my mom was in Thailand!

We really enjoyed Bro Sis Burger, a small burger shop at the local metro station that sells really good chicken burgers for just 39 baht!

After ordering our burgers, we sat down at a small table in the station to eat.

We played some fun games at the hotel restaurant in the evenings. It was really nice to have family around! Normally I'm either working from home alone or it's just me and my wife, and board games are always more fun with more people.

We also played the world's longest round of Skip-Bo!

I was really happy to take them birding at my favorite city park. 

We didn't end up seeing that many new birds (I guess it's just not the right season), but it was still really nice to get up early and get outside.

Queen Sirikit Park and Rot Fai Park connect via a walkway, and the two parks together are really big! There are a lot of places to walk and explore.

Bangkok is really a birder's paradise! There are so many beautiful, colorful birds to see, even in the center of the city.

After birding we went to the nearby Or Tor Kor Market (the "Marketing Organization for Farmers"), which is a massive national farmer's market near the park. It's one of the best places in town to get the freshest produce from all across Thailand.

It's also a great place for breakfast, with dozens of stalls selling all sorts of delicious Thai dishes! You can get a plate of rice then choose what sides you'd like to have with it.

 

One morning we went to my favorite secret local coffee shop. It's located on a small pond, and it's a very quiet, peaceful spot in a busy city.

On their final evening in town, my wife and I took Mom and Kyle to Momo Paradise, an award-winning hotpot restaurant. We had so much fun making our own soup and adding all of our own chosen ingredients into Momo's famous black broth!

Of course, no hot pot meal is complete without ice cream for dessert!

I really loved having Mom and Kyle visit me. I can't wait until the next time they come to see me here in Thailand!
