Texas State Capitaol
Trinity Railway Express
Remembering the Alamo
These photos were shot on Lomography 400 with a 1970 Fujica 35 Compact
Another pleasant surprise was finding a roll of film that I has apparently shot last year when visiting Texas! First up: the Texas Railway Express (TRE), that runs between Dallas and Fort Worth.
I also got this shot of some cowboys at the Fort Worth Stockyards. I like the timeless quality of black and white photos.
We walked around Austin for a while too. This is a church near the Texas state capitol building. The white balance is a little off. I wish there was more contrast between the roof and the sky.
And here's the capitol building. It's an ok picture. The film got a bit burned in one spot.
I tried to get the big star and all six flags at the Bob Bullock State History Museum. I wasn't able to fit all of the flags in,though. It's an alright picture. I actually think my best photograph is the very first one in the gallery, a sort of modern picture of the star up close.
The light was really weird the day we went to the Alamo. Even in the main post, the colors and shadows are odd (shot with my phone). The light was too harsh, and the shadows were odd and dark. I don't like these two pictures so much, but I included them any way.
I think it's important for me to include bad photos too. Improving my analog photography is a slow skill and requires patience and practice. I'll include poor photographs along the way so that I can see how I've improved.
This photo, from inside the Alamo courtyard, turned out nicely, though. Here's an old Spanish lamp hanging inside the walls of the Alamo.
I've still got lots of film photos to post here, and a few more rolls of film that I want to get developed. Stay tuned for more photo galleries coming soon! I have some free time right now, so I'll work on getting them uploaded as soon as I get around to it.
