Princess Mother Memorial Park

In 1997, King Rama IX established the Princess Mother Memorial Park in honor of his mother, Princess Srinagarindra, who passed away in 1995. The park is located in a beautiful plot of land in the Khlong San District of Bangkok on the Thonburi side of the river near where the Princess Mother grew up.

There is a small museum onsite which chronicles the Princess Mother's life and the initiatives that she started as a member of the Thai royal family. Like her son King Rama IX, the Princess Mother established a number of foundations to promote social issues, educational initiatives, and environmental causes throughout Thailand.

It's nice to learn about the Princess Mother, whom the people in the north nicknamed "Mother of the Heavenly Sky" due to her charity, generosity, and support for empowering the kingdom's ethnic minorities. It was also just nice to experience a very quiet green space in an out-of-the-way neighborhood in a normally busy city.
