Saturday II
On Saturday, I had a few hours off between my morning and evening classes, and decided to take a camera out for a walk (hopefully I can get a new Photo Gallery post up soon!). I took the MRT just two stops away from home to an area just outside of Chatuchak Park. There's a sort of makeshift amulet market set up along the road between Mo Chit and Saphan Kwai stations, and I took a stroll along the covered sidewalk looking at all of the mysterious wares on offer.
Even though it was hot, I ended up walking all the way to a nearby temple, which I had always seen from the Skytrain but had never been to.
I also saw a few spirit houses and shrines leading the way to the Vishnu Temple, what I assume is a small neighborhood Hindu Temple, but I couldn't find exactly where it was.
Even though Thailand is predominantly Buddhist, there is a very deeply-ingrained Hindu influence which runs through the spirituality of the country. That's something else that I hope to write about soon, and I've been thinking about paying a visit to a few of the city's Hindu temples at some point in the near future!
It is well and truly the rainy season, and it storms nearly every day, with the sky darkening almost without warning from a bright, sunny, clear blue to an angry, stormy grey.
After my walk, I barely made it home in time before the rain began falling!
I apologize that these "Week in my Life" posts were less than exciting. It ended up being a more boring week than usual with more chores, studying, and working to do. In fact, I was so busy that I didn't even end up doing a lot of my regular weekly activities. In a few months, perhaps I will write a third series! Until then, this blog will return to its regular format.
