Bang Pu Infrared

I was out at Bang Pu the other day to catch the annual visit of the seagulls who fly down from Mongolia when the air gets cooler. After a nice seafood lunch, I took my infrared camera out. I didn't get many pictures, but some of the results were interesting!

Seagulls and mangroves in 850nm

IR works best on a bright and sunny day, but unfortunately there aren't so many of those at this time of year in Thailand. Things tend to be a bit cloudy during the winter.

Blue IR - a filter which lets in infrared light as well as light on the blue spectrum.

I admit, I wasn't all that impressed with Blue IR the first time I used this filter, but I think it deserves another chance. Blue IR looks way cooler when the colors are balanced properly, and does really interesting things with water and sky!

Blue IR would be a good filter to carry to the beach. Here, I captured a few shots of the Bang Pu mangrove forests.
