Asiatique, The Jurassic World Experience, and Dusit Central Park

Bangkok is famous for its palaces, temples, food, and historical sites, but the city has so many interesting and lesser-known attractions that you might only discover when you've spent a significant amount of time in the city.

My wife and I took the river boat to Asiatique a few weeks back to explore and check out the city's new attractions, the Jurassic World Experience, which just opened at Asiatique, a cool market on the riverfront that is built in a former harbor complex.

Parts of the recent Jurassic World movies were filmed in Thailand, and people are really excited about it. The Jurassic World Experience is an extension of Thailand's current dino-mania, but to be honest, when we bought tickets, we had no idea what to expect.

It turns out that the experience is an entire interactive story with animatronics and actors and guests play the part of visitors to Jurassic World during their final, disastrous day. Everything starts normally, of course, with a visit to the Raptor Training Room and a tour to see friendly herbivores.

Before long, however, things go wrong, and we were evacuated to a saferoom to hide from an escaped predator.

It was really fun! The animatronics were excellent, and the actors did a great job as well. It was such a fun and off-beat way to spend a day out on the river.

Another cool thing we've done recently is visit the brand-new Dusit Central Park, a shopping mall, hotel, and business park located on the former site of the historic Dusit Thani Hotel.

The mall is full of great restaurants, but the main attraction is the garden, which is located on a multi-story balcony overlooking Lumpini Park in Bangkok's downtown.

Bangkok never gets old, and part of the reason why is because there's always something new to explore.
