Curious and wanting to learn more about the Father of Modern Vietnam, Pinky and I went to visit Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum in Hanoi.
Though he lived a simple and modest life, the poet and revolutionary leader received the Soviet treatment upon his death, with an imposing and impressive mausoleum à la Lenin and Mao.
If you arrive in the morning, you can actually enter the tomb to view
the body of Ho Chi Minh, which is preserved behind glass. We didn't do
this, though. On the day when we visited the mausoleum, we arrived a bit
late, so just viewed it from the outside before visiting the
Presidential Palace.
