Grandma's Christmas Punch: A Drink for the Holidays

By special request by my mom, I will be continuing my Christmas drink series by sharing my grandma's Christmas punch! I've decided to share a new drink every week in December this year. Maybe it can help make things a little more festive for all of us stuck at home during the holidays.

Christmas Punch

"Open House Punch" or "Grandma's Christmas Punch"

Ingredients

One fifth (one 750ml bottle) of Southern Comfort (that's right... a whole bottle)
3 quarts 7-up
16 oz fresh lemon juice
16 oz can of frozen lemonade mix
16 oz can of frozen orange juice mix
sliced lemon and lime

Directions

"Chill ingredients. Mix in punch bowl. Add 7-up last. Add drops of red food coloring as desired."

We always slice up some fresh lemons and limes to float in the punch.

Simple!

The food coloring really makes it. In fact, some of my earliest Christmas memories are of visiting my grandma and grandpa and seeing all of the adults drinking the bright red punch from little glass cups. Of course, I was too young to drink anything with an entire bottle of SoCo in it at the time, but even though I had never tried it until this past year, it was still a big part of my Christmas memories.

I'll be bringing you more recipes each week this month. Stay tuned for another festive drink next weekend!

delicious!

  2. I wish we could enjoy it together this year! You guys will have to make a bowl at Christmas and have a glass for me. Next year, after COVID is past, I'll be there to enjoy it with you!
