The Conqueror Challenge: Mt. Fuji Virtual Challenge

The Mount Fuji Virtual Challenge will take you in a 46 miles (74 km) adventure around the Fuji Five Lakes and then on to the summit of Mount Fuji, Japan.

🗾 🗻 🌸 🏃

In this year of plague and panic, quarantine and lockdown, we all have to be a bit creative. Work meetings have moved to apps like Zoom, and even family holidays have moved online. This year, to try to get back into shape, I've signed up for a "virtual run". My first virtual run is the Mt. Fuju Virtual Challenge, and internet-based event based on the trek up Japan's most famous mountain.

Here's how it works:

Every time I walk, run, bike, or swim, I can log it into the "My Virtual Mission" app on my phone. I'm trying to rack up a total of 46 miles - the equivalent of trekking around Fuji's Five Lakes and then to the peak. Once I complete the "mission", I'll receive a medal.

The coolest part is, every time I reach a benchmark, I'll receive a virtual postcard via email that teaches me about the history and culture of the sites I visit along my "virtual run".

If anything, it's inspired me to try to trek the real Mount Fuji once the world returns to normal post-COVID.

I hope to write another post soon telling you all about what I've learned and showing off my Mt. Fuji Medal!
