A Week in My Life: Sunday

Sunday

And so my week comes to an end. It's been fun to write about the little aspects of my day-to-day life here in Bangkok. I hope that it was interesting to read about, and not too boring! There were no big adventures this week, no international travels, no exciting moments in my exotic adopted city... but I hope that it has been interesting nonetheless to follow along on my daily "adventures". Maybe I'll do this again in six months or so. It could be a fun recurring series here on my blog. Sometimes I forget how interesting life really can be, and posts like these can help remind me to look for the adventure in the mundane. Anyway, on to Sunday!

Funny anecdote: my girlfriend and I like to argue about what day is the first day of the week. In Thai culture, Monday is the first day, and Saturday and Sunday - as the weekend - are at the end of the week. In US culture, of course, Sunday is the first day of the week. Today is Sunday, either the first or last day of the week, depending on how you look at it. Either way, today is a work day for me, as I take my weekend on Thursday and Friday.

It was an early morning. My girlfriend had to work at 7:00 today, which meant that she had to leave the house at 6. I like waking up early and walking her to the subway station, so it was an early morning for me. That means I had plenty of time in the mid and late morning to read for my grad classes, watch Star Trek, and hang out with my best friend; i.e. my cat, Cricket. Cricket enjoys watching Netflix with me... or rather, listening to Netflix. Cricket is pretty special, since he's blind. He loves Star Trek, though. I think his favorite series is Enterprise. Guess he's a fan of Captain Archer.

Sometimes I like to set my alarm a little early so I can have extra cuddle time with my little dude! He likes to sit on me.
An early morning means that I get extra time to cuddle with my little feline dude. He's sweetest in the morning and late at night.

Cricket is the best. Maybe I will write a series of posts about him sometime soon! He's a really good friend, and is great company. Now that I spend all day studying online and working from home, it's nice to have someone around (even if it is a grumpy little blind Siamese) to hang out with during the day.

Today I only teach online. My students are mostly regulars. Today, the students come from Taiwan, China, Russia, and Japan. I'll stay in and work today. This month, my poor girlfriend will work extremely long hours at the hospital.

tired!
I took a nap in the evening, then headed out to pick her up at the train station just before midnight. It's been a long day for me, but a much longer day for her. What right do I have to complain? At least she loves her job, which really makes me happy!

late night on my street - heading out to the train station

Thanks for joining me this week. If you enjoyed this Week in My Life, I might decide to write another series at some point in the future. I hope it hasn't been too boring! I haven't done anything too exciting this week, but I hope that you enjoyed seeing my daily life here in Bangkok, Thailand.
